Waterbridge Media contracted by DND IDEaS to produce case study video on Military AI Cybersecurity technologies developed by Sapper Labs
- Brian Frank
Waterbridge Media is happy to share our collaboration with the Department of National Defence (DND) through the IDEaS (Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security) program. Waterbridge Media was contracted to produce a compelling video case study showcasing the work of Sapper Labs, a Canadian cybersecurity company developing groundbreaking AI technologies for military applications to identify malicious online actors.
This initiative is part of the IDEaS program’s commitment to investing in innovations that directly support the Canadian Armed Forces. Specifically, Sapper Labs has successfully completed the “Test Drive” phase of the program—a rigorous, real-world trial conducted in partnership with military end-users. This phase is the final and most demanding stage of the IDEaS technology development cycle, focused on validating solutions for operational implementation. You can read more about the program on the Government of Canada’s science blog.
Waterbridge Media provided comprehensive video production services from start to finish. We began by collaborating closely with DND and Sapper Labs to craft a compelling narrative that would highlight the innovation, impact, and real-world application of Sapper Labs’ AI-driven cybersecurity solution. This included scriptwriting, storyboarding, and meticulous production planning.
Our production team then traveled to Sapper Labs’ headquarters to capture on-location interviews and dynamic b-roll footage that would form the visual backbone of the video. We considered all details, from lighting and sound design to ensuring authentic, engaging content that effectively communicated the story to both technical and general Canadian audiences.
We also engaged in extensive post-production video practices that involved a full suite of creative services. We sourced custom music, professional voice talent, and high-quality stock media to enhance the narrative. Our video editors crafted a polished 2-minute video, complete with motion graphics and animated branding elements, ensuring the final product was visually engaging and aligned with government and corporate branding standards.
Accessibility and adaptability were also key priorities in this video production. The final video was delivered in both official languages (English and French), fully captioned to meet Government of Canada accessibility requirements. We also provided platform-optimized formats for seamless deployment across web, social media, and internal communication channels.
The final result is a compelling, bilingual case study that highlights not only the innovation coming out of Canada’s defence sector, but also the importance of programs like IDEaS in bridging the gap between technology innovators and the operational needs of our military.
Waterbridge Media is honoured to have played a role in telling this important story. We’re passionate about working with public sector clients and tech innovators to help showcase the ideas and solutions shaping the future of national security.
